Heart disease and diet
The main goal of the diet in the case of heart disease is to improve the function of the cardiovascular system and kidneys, to improve blood circulation and normalize metabolism.
Such a diet limits the amount of sodium and fluid intake (not more than 1000-1200 ml), and also minimizes the amount of substances that excite the cardiovascular system, nervous system, internal organs. The intake of potassium and magnesium is increased. Meat and fish should be boiled; hard-digestible dishes are excluded. Food is prepared without salt or with a small amount of it. It is recommended to eat 4-5 times a day in equal portions.
Recommended and excluded foods and dishes
Bread and flour products
Wheat bread from the 1st and 2nd grade flour of yesterday’s baking or slightly dried, dietary salt-free bread. Cookies and biscuits from not fancy pastry.
Exclude: fresh bread, fancy pastry, pancakes, muffins.
Soups (portion 250-400 g)
Vegetarian soups with different cereals, potatoes, vegetables (finely chopped); dairy, fruit, cold. It is allowed to add sour cream, citric acid, herbs.
Exclude: soups with legumes, meat, fish, mushroom broths.
It is allowed to eat non-fat types of beef, veal, pork, rabbit, chicken, turkey. Remove all tendons and fat; first boil and then bake or fry. Add chopped boiled meat to other dishes. Cooked sausages should be used in small quantities.
Exclude: fat grades of meat, goose, duck, liver, kidneys, brains, smoked products, sausages, canned meat.
It is allowed to eat non-fatty and moderately fatty species of fish, boiled or with the subsequent frying.
Exclude: fatty fish, salted, smoked, canned.
Milk, sour milk drinks, cottage cheese and dishes from it, with the addition of cereals, carrots, fruits. You can eat small amounts of sour cream and cream (add to the dishes), not fatty cheese.
Exclude: salted and fatty cheeses.
Dishes from different cereals, cooked on water or milk (porridge, baked puddings, etc.). Boiled pasta.
You can eat potatoes, cauliflower, carrots, beets, zucchini, pumpkins, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers – in boiled, baked, less often raw form; white cabbage and green peas – in small quantities.
Exclude: pickled, pickled and pickled vegetables; spinach, sorrel, radish, radish, onion, mushrooms.
Salads from fresh vegetables (grated carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers), vegetable caviar, fruit salads, salads with seafood. Boiled and jellied fish.
Exclude: sharp, fatty and salty snacks, smoked meat, caviar.
Fruit, desserts, sweets
It is allowed to eat soft, ripe, fruit and fresh berries, dried fruits, compotes, fruit and milk kissels, smoothies, jelly, creams, honey, jam, chocolate sweets.
Exclude: fruits with coarse fiber, pure chocolate.
Sauces and spices
Allowed: sauces and spices cooked on the base of vegetable broth, sour cream sauces, milk sauces, tomato sauces, onion sauces from boiled and toasted onions, fruit gravies; bay leaf, vanillin, cinnamon, citric acid.
Exclude: sauces based on meat, fish and mushroom broth, mustard, pepper, spicy ketchup.
Not salted butter and ghee can be used in small quantities, not salted soft margarine, vegetable oil in its natural form.
Exclude: meat and cooking fats.
It is allowed to drink not strong tea, not strong natural coffee, coffee drinks with milk, fruit and vegetable juices, grape juice – is limited, broth from dogrose.
Exclude: alcohol, strong tea, coffee and cocoa.
