Celery for weight loss


Celery is a great tool for the fight with obesity. It is rich in mineral elements which are necessary for the organism – phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, carotene, calcium, oxalic acid and many others. Celery juice is especially useful, because it has a laxative and diuretic effect; it removes the excess fluid from the body and cleans it from the toxins. Juice of this plant also regulates the disturbed metabolism and promotes the digestion. For the prophylactic purposes, to prevent obesity, you should drink three tablespoons of celery juice before meals, because celery contains enzymes, so that will help the digestion. Consumption of this plant also helps to slow down the aging process.

It is a low-calorie product, so nutritionists use it in their methods for weight loss and it is also used in alternative medicine. Nutritionists recommend it to people who are prone to obesity and those who want to lose weight. So, how does it work? This plant contains lots of fiber. In order to digest the product fully, the body needs to spend extra calories, a feeling of satiety comes quickly enough if you take it even in small quantities.

But it is important to remember that the daily intake shouldn’t exceed 100 ml. 2-3 tablespoons of freshly squeezed juice of celery should be consumed half an hour before meals. Before the big feast the dose can be increased. Celery can be used in any form – raw, boiled, stewed. It can be prepared in various ways; being boiled or stewed its qualities don’t concede potatoes. Celery juice can be combined with any juices except citrus.

There are many recipes for celery soups, and most of them have almost the same composition: root or celery stalks (400g), tomatoes (4 pieces), pickled or fresh cabbage (500g), sweet pepper (150g). All this must be cut and filled into a pot of boiling water. The soup should be boiled on high heat not for a long time, after that the fire must be diminished by half; and simmer the vegetables until cooked. When the vegetables are almost ready, you can add chopped fresh herbs to the soup – dill, parsley or cilantro. Then the soup should be infused. You shouldn’t put salt and pepper into the soup, because celery saturates it with the unusual taste, so any other additives are not required.

There are also many variations for the salad. Here are some of them. 1. Сelery root, carrots, turnips should be granted, then season the salad with vegetable oil and lemon juice. 2. Finely chopped boiled carrots, cucumber, celery, boiled eggs season with low-fat sour cream or yogurt. 3. Take 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 400 grams of celery, 3 pieces of onion, ground pepper, dill and salt. Vegetables should be cleaned, crushed and steamed, then fill the salad with oil, pepper, salt and dill.
