Ginger beverages

ginger-beveragesWhen cold weather comes, we remember such a useful spice like ginger, because it improves the tolerance of cold, calms the cough and breathing difficulties. Its properties are well known; among them are also such useful abilities as removing toxins, improving digestion and reducing nausea. In addition, ginger is very effective in losing weight. The most popular methods are teas, drinks and elixirs using ginger root.

There are never too much recipes, I’d like to call your attention to another couple.

1.

Based on 4 servings you will need:

a liter of water

3 tablespoons of grated ginger root

juice of one grapefruit

15 peas of black pepper

6 tablespoons of sugar (or honey is better) to your taste

You will need 25 minutes for the preparation. You should rub the ginger on a fine grater. Boil water, add the grated ginger and black pepper into the pot, and boil for 5 minutes. Next, we need to squeeze grapefruit juice. You can replace it by the juice of one lemon. But do not add it to the water immediately; otherwise vitamin C will lose its properties. At first, cool the beverage to 40 degrees. Honey should be added by following the same rule. Ayurveda claims that honey becomes toxic at elevated temperatures. So, add the juice and honey into the cooled drink and it’s ready!

2.

You will need:

a liter of water

3 tablespoons of grated ginger root

juice of one lime

beam of mint

6 tablespoons of sugar or honey to your taste

The second recipe is almost the same. Rub the ginger, boil the water, add the ginger and sugar. If you use honey, remember that it is not necessary to put it immediately. I use brown sugar cane. So, boil for about 5 minutes, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Turn off the heat and place a beam of mint, and leave the drink to infuse. You are allowed not to wait until the drink has cooled down, and consume it the hot form. You can add the lime juice (or lemon) immediately. However, in this case the citrus will give only a flavor and make the beverage a little lighter.
