citrus dietsDo you like citrus fruits – oranges, grapefruits, lemons, pomelos and tangerines? Citrus diet is a great way to cleanse the body and get rid of excess weight. The point of this diet is in the ability of citrus to fat burning. However, these fruits are useful for the body in general.

Grapefruit juice, for example, improves digestion and burns excess fat, removes excess fluid and toxins from the body, thus improving the work of the stomach and liver. This citrus fruit is often used in many methods of weight correction. Lemons stabilize metabolism and hormonal balance, eliminate toxins and slags. Oranges as well as grapefruits improve cell metabolism, lower cholesterol, stimulate digestion and strengthen the immune system. Tangerines are recommended for restoration of the balance of vitamins, especially for colds. Pomelo is useful for cardiac muscle and vascular wall elasticity.

The system of nutrition on the basis of citrus is quite effective, and allows you to lose weight in short terms. Such diets help to get rid of 5-7 kg per week, with daily consumption of no more than 1,000 kcal. After 3-4 days of such nutrition you will notice how the bulging tummy disappears, but on the condition that you won’t eat fatty foods the next day.

In addition to citrus, you are allowed to eat the following foods: eggs; dairy products; juices; porridges; low-fat types of fish and meat; vegetables; greenery.

Prohibited products include any greasy, salted, smoked or pickled foods and sweets.


There are many recipes using citrus fruits. Here are some of them:

  1. Express diet allows to get rid of 3 kg of excess weight in three days. The essence:

eat up to 1.2 kg of any citrus fruits every day;

drink 1 glass of water every 1.5-2 hours.


  1. Citrus diet for 4 weeks suggests reduction in weight by 15 kilograms. Use any allowed products, following the example of the menu:

Breakfast: grapefruit, unsweetened tea and small load of bread;

Snack: 200 g fat-free kefir;

Lunch: any kind of citrus in unlimited quantities;

Dinner: boiled meat and vegetable salad.


  1. Diet based on citrus juice calculated for a week:

Breakfast: two boiled eggs, half a grapefruit;

Lunch: oranges and orange juice in any quantity;

Dinner: 100 grams of boiled rice and orange juice.


  1. Egg-citrus diet for three days:

Breakfast: 200 ml of orange juice;

Snack: a soft-boiled egg;

Lunch: 200 ml of grapefruit juice and low-fat yogurt;

Snack: a boiled egg;

Dinner: 1 glass of orange juice.


  1. Citrus and vegetable diet for 10 days:

Breakfast: a couple of oranges and apples;

Snack: a cup of tea;

Lunch: vegetable salad;

Snack: a glass of orange juice;

Dinner: boiled beef and greens.


  1. Citrus fruits and kefir. Option for fasting days (no more than three):

drink up to 1 liter of a 1% kefir daily;

eat 1 kg of any citrus fruit.


  1. A diet with citrus and chicken for a week. In this case, you can also eat 100 grams cottage cheese per day.

Breakfast: grapefruit and cottage cheese;

Snack: 100 grams of boiled chicken breast;

Lunch: any citrus fruits;

Snack: chicken;

Dinner: citrus fruits.


It is important. Ration of citrus diets is not suitable for people with allergies. It is forbidden to use similar diets during pregnancy, breastfeeding or if you have any chronic diseases.
