Continuing the theme of blueberries in programs for weight loss, I want to share some other information. I want to remind that the regular consumption of blueberries reduces the risk of heart diseases and stroke, helps to fight infections, makes better eyesight and memory. An important advantage of blueberries is the presence of tanning substances. They have astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. These substances normalize digestion and reduce the risk of diarrhea, which rather often happens in a limited ration of a diet.
All your dishes should be low in fat. Watch the calorie content and do not go beyond the daily norm. Your menu should be rich in other fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Try to avoid or limit the consumption of beverages with high sugar content or caffeine and drink plenty of cool water.
Blueberry juice is a real curative elixir! It contains a large amount of useful acids and many vitamins. Blueberry juice has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and fixing properties. The amount of antioxidants, vitamin C and fiber, which are contained in blueberries, benefit the digestive tract and the entire organism as a whole. Scientists from the University of Montreal studied the properties of blueberry juice and claim that it is beneficial for weight loss. Their findings were published in October 2009 in the “International Journal of Obesity”.
In addition, dietary blueberry juice effect is connected with increase of insulin sensitivity. This also leads to an accelerated processing of fats into energy. The described property was demonstrated by employees of Louisiana State University as an example on the obese men – they drank blueberry juice twice a day for six weeks (October issue of the “Journal of Nutrition”, 2010).
Blueberry juice is widely used in folk medicine as an effective antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, analgesic and fixing means. It is an essential component in the ration of astronauts and pilots.
