Beet is one of the simplest products which can be found in any vegetable garden and in any supermarket, but meanwhile, it is incredibly useful for our organism. These root vegetables contain vitamins B, PP, C, A, such nutrients as iodine, magnesium, potassium, copper, phosphorus, calcium, iron; folic acid, betaine and bioflavonoids. Thanks to the folic acid beet has a rejuvenating effect for the body – it contributes to the creation of new cells. And because of the content of vitamin B9 beet is ideal for preventing heart diseases. Beets are often prescribed for the production of hemoglobin, and the prevention of anemia and leukemia. Many therapeutic diets include beets since they are also used against obesity. Caloric value of beet is just 42 kilocalories per 100 g of the product. Beet has long been used as a means of improving digestion and metabolism, eliminates toxins from the body.
I’d like to offer a diet based on the use of beet, which lasts for 10 days and implies losing of 5-6 extra pounds. I want to warn that it is not a mono-diet, it also includes other products. But the most important of them is still beet. It is guaranteed for you to get rid of excess weight and at the same time to wean the body from using fats.
Any diet will be effective if you follow the recommendations. One of the most important requirements of beet diet is a daily consumption of mixture of beet, carrot and orange juice. For one portion you will need to squeeze the juice from one beet, two carrots and one orange. This mixture should be drunk twice a day for 20 minutes before eating – before lunch and dinner.
The approximate menu of this diet is as follows:
Breakfast: salad from fresh beets and carrots seasoned with lemon juice and olive oil. Instead of lemon, you can use sour apple. Fried eggs of 4 egg whites and 100 grams of nonfat cottage cheese or 2 slices of bread with bran.
Lunch: buckwheat or oatmeal without butter and a pieceof lean meat. A piece of meat should be no larger than the palm without fingers.
Dinner: steamed vegetables and lean fish.
You can vary the menu but don’t forget to exclude alcohol, sweet and fatty foods. For breakfast you can also take low-fat yogurt with cereals, drink tea without sugar or white coffee. For lunch – beet salad and steamed rice. Instead of rice it can be boiled chicken breast. Dinner can include vegetable casserole with greens, scalloped potatoes or vegetable soup and an apple.
It is to be noted that such diet is contraindicated for those who suffer from diabetes or other chronic diseases.
